We are happy to announce that the winner of the ‘Win a Building Rescue’ competition is Samuel Deakin from Sheffield.

Samuel is wheelchair-bound after viral encephalitis struck him when he was one year old. He then contracted rheumatic fever and has undergone three open heart surgeries in five years and now has mechanical valves in his heart. His mum says “He never moans and always smiles”. Due to his wheelchair, Samuel is unable to access his kitchen at home which is frustrating him and holding him back as he can't get himself a drink or something to eat without assistance. We will be sending in FMB builders to renovate the kitchen so that he can get access and become more independent and self-sufficient.
We are thrilled that we can help Samuel however we are very sorry that we cannot help more people that were nominated. The panel of judges from the FMB had an incredibly difficult task of choosing a winner from so many worthy nominations. Make Mine a Builders and the FMB will be approaching other businesses to see if they can get involved, rescue more buildings and help other nominated people. Stay tuned.
